Importing activity data

Bring a spreadsheet in as emissions entries. Preview before it commits, and roll the whole import back if it is wrong.

Emissions & reporting 3 min read

Open Data Import to load activity data from a CSV instead of typing it in. This is an owner and manager feature; other roles will not see it in the menu.

Map your columns

Your spreadsheet does not have to match our column names. After you upload, you map each of your columns to the field it holds, and ETP remembers the mapping for next time — a monthly import is set up once.

Preview before it commits

Nothing is saved on upload. ETP shows you what it parsed, row by row, with the factor it would apply and any rows it could not resolve. Fix the file and re-upload, or commit.

Rows you have already imported

Before committing, choose what should happen to entries that already exist:

  • Append — add everything, including rows that match existing entries. Use when the repeats are genuinely separate events.
  • Skip — leave existing entries alone and add only what is new. The safe choice for a re-run of a file you already imported.
  • Replace — supersede the existing entry with the one in your file. Use when the spreadsheet is the corrected version.

Undoing an import

Every import is recorded, and any import can be rolled back — it removes exactly the entries that import created, and nothing else. Data you entered by hand, or from a different import, is untouched. If a file turns out to be wrong, roll it back rather than deleting rows one at a time.
