Roles and permissions

You can have more than one owner. Owner runs billing and the team; manager runs the day-to-day; inspector is a specialist role; customer is free and strictly read-only.

Team & roles 3 min read

Four roles, in descending order of what they can do.

Owner

Runs the organisation: billing, licences, roles and removals, plus everything a manager can do.

You can have more than one owner — an owner can invite another owner. What you cannot do is promote an existing member: owner is only reachable through an invitation.

Manager

Runs the day-to-day. Can invite managers, inspectors and customers, and edit the organisation profile. Cannot touch billing, cannot change roles, and cannot remove people.

Inspector

A specialist role for people who need workspace access without organisation administration.

Customer (read-only)

Read-only access, and strictly so: a customer can view the organisation's emissions data and reports, but cannot create, edit, delete, submit or invite anything.

What they cost

Nothing. The Customer role is free and unlimited: it is read-only access your organisation grants, not a seat anyone buys, so it consumes no licence and never changes your invoice.

Owner, Manager and Inspector are the paid roles. See Licences and seats.

Billing is owner-only, exactly

Worth stating plainly because it looks like a bug: managers cannot see the Billing page at all. Not a greyed-out button — the page is simply not theirs.

Changing someone's role

Owner-only, from the Team page. You can move someone between manager, inspector and customer. You cannot make them an owner.

When someone leaves

An owner removes them from Team. Their access stops immediately and their licence seat is freed for someone else — their history stays attributed to them.

Two things you cannot do: remove yourself, or remove the last active owner. An organisation must always keep one.

Bringing someone back needs an available licence for their role — if you reduced your seat count after they left, buy one first.
