Sites and facilities

Every emissions entry belongs to a site. Location is not just a label — it selects the electricity factor.

Emissions & reporting 2 min read

A site is a place your organisation operates — an office, a depot, a plant. Open Sites & Facilities to add them. Do this before you start recording, because every emissions entry has to belong to one.

Why the state matters

Australian grid electricity has a very different carbon intensity in Victoria than in Tasmania. ETP picks the electricity factor from the site's state, so a site with no state set falls back to the national average rather than silently borrowing another state's number. Set the state.

Inside or outside the boundary

Each site is marked as inside or outside your reporting boundary. Sites outside the boundary stay recorded but are excluded from your inventory totals — useful for a location you track but do not report on, such as a site you do not operationally control.

Closing a site

Mark a site inactive rather than deleting it. Its historical entries stay attached and your prior-year totals do not move, which is exactly what you want when someone asks why last year's number changed.
