Recording your emissions
Fifteen categories across Scope 1, 2 and 3. Pick the category, pick the site, enter the activity — ETP applies the factor and stores the result.
You record activity data — litres of diesel, kilowatt-hours of electricity, kilometres flown — and ETP applies the right emission factor to produce a figure in CO₂e. You never type an emissions number yourself.
The three scopes
Scope 1 is what you burn or release directly: Transport Fuels, Stationary Combustion, Refrigerants & Fugitive Emissions, and Process Emissions.
Scope 2 is energy you buy: Purchased Electricity, and Purchased Steam, Heating & Cooling.
Scope 3 is everything else in your value chain — nine categories, including Purchased Goods & Services, Business Travel, Employee Commuting, Waste, Capital Goods, Transportation & Distribution, Use of Sold Products, Investments, and Fuel & Energy Related Activities.
Adding an entry
Open Emissions and choose the scope, then the category. Each category has its own form, because the questions genuinely differ — a refrigerant entry asks which gas and how much was topped up; an electricity entry asks for kilowatt-hours and which grid.
Every entry needs a site and a date. The site matters for more than filing: electricity factors differ by state, so the site's location changes the answer. Add your sites first — see Sites and facilities.
What happens after you save
ETP looks up the factor that fits your entry, multiplies it out, and stores the result. The factor it used is recorded against the entry, so a number can always be traced back to its source. If no factor fits, ETP tells you rather than guessing — see Emission factors.
You do not have to do it one at a time
If you already hold the data in a spreadsheet, import it instead. See Importing activity data.
